After the U.S. and Iran agreed to a ceasefire, the Trump administration argued that the War Powers Act’s restrictions no longer applied because active hostilities had ended. That position was used to push back against calls for Congress to vote on authorizing continued military action.
Senator Mike Lee has introduced a last-minute amendment to the Wildfire Prevention Act that would eliminate the 2001 Roadless Rule, stripping protections from roughly 60 million acres of national forest land. This is an attempt to sneak a major public lands policy change through before most
Trump is so delusional. There are no issues in California that justify this rhetoric. Maybe attention should be focused on the fact that Republicans are attempting to gerrymander states across the country to lock in congressional seats. These maps are being pushed forward without voter input.
Now the United States has launched new strikes against Iran following allegations that Iran was responsible for downing a U.S. helicopter. If active hostilities have resumed, doesn’t that mean Trump will now need approval?
Americans even hear about it. There has been little public attention given to a proposal that could have significant impacts on national forests, wildlife habitat, recreation, Tribal interests, and local communities across the country.
