There's a saying in museum-work: "Digital last forever or for 10 years, whichever comes first." Formats change, files get lost or corrupted or deleted, hardware gets too hot or too cold or too wet or too dry, passwords get lost, operators forget how it all worked. And AI is speeding the decay.
