On June 11 the Supreme Court rejected Alabama's request to proceed with the nitrogen gas execution of 49-year-old Jeffrey Lee, scheduled for that same day, reports Kastalia Medrano.

The suffering involved in nitrogen deaths is thought to be “over and above the mental distress that typically accompanies" execution.
