It's wild that the City gave FOUR DAYS' notice for engagement on "should we spend $100M+ to subsidize a billionaire while we have a $100M+ budget deficit."
The City weighed in on this in FEBRUARY!
This is bad practice that favors reaching folks whose voices are already overrepresented.

but i believe in movement building, in forging ties between climate and labor to show portlanders we can do big things together. thats the important stuff that will matter more than me, my seat and this election. its what i promised id do when i made the case in 2024.
if i were the governor running for reelection i’d be penning a letter acknowledging the important and careful work of OPUC, but calling for a speedy review of the rate proposal. ratepayers are waiting for relief from the costs that have been shifted onto them by these data centers.
a huge part of my base is the PCEF / environment mvmt. the idea that i’m doing politically expedient things in an election year by *drawing on PCEF interest* to save a number of core services from being gutted, to include saving jobs in … checks notes … PPB is a helluva thing to put on writing.
the hours i’ve spent having tough conversations to make the case that using available PCEF interest to serve the highest priorities of portlanders in this moment is actually in the best interest of PCEF are extensive. that’s the work and honestly i don’t know it’s going help or hurt me in nov.
we are so back
