The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia have pledged $72,958 towards a global aphasia awareness campaign... if we can match their contribution, dollar for dollar. We need your help to match the momentum and make aphasia awareness a reality! Aphasia affects millions - yet awareness remains heartbreakingly low. Aphasia robs people of their communication, but not their thoughts, feelings, or humanity. This lack of awareness translates to a lack of support and empathy from the general public; fewer opportunities to return to work, education, and social activities; and insufficient funding for aphasia services.
CALL FOR MENTORS The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia is once again offering to support the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP) to develop strategies for engaging with and providing professional development to SLTs in resource-constrained contexts. This project is coordinated by the IALP Aphasia Committee. Mentees will be emerging SLTs (in their first 7 years of clinical practice) from low- and middle-resourced countries where speech-language therapy services for people with aphasia are limited or not yet established.
