One sound that is very characteristic of Havana, is the shouts and whistles of street vendors. I love this installation by Megan Fawn Schlow about these "Street Hawkers", and I was very interested to learn about the connection between this Cuban tradition and the history of slavery
Last week, I went to #ABRE2025 with @silvaperez.bsky.social. We presented on the role of religion in discussions about free womb laws in the Netherlands, Spain and Brazil. I found the other presentations during the panel about women in the transatlantic world very interesting and inspiring!
