NEW PREPRINT OUT!
Happy to share that our #preprint on how the human #brain encodes #touch: biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
We investigate how touch is encoded in the human #somatosensory and #motor cortices recorded via #microelectrode arrays across different tactile conditions
Excellent opportunity for Professorship in #Health Engineering here at Chalmers University of Technology! Join us! 🦾 🧠

We further explored the role of #vision by comparing neural activity during touch with/without vision, and during the observation of touch. While touch elicited robust responses in Area 1 and MC regardless of visual input, observation alone did not modulate the neural responses
In SC we characterized the neural activity in response to touch and mapped detailed somatotopic multi-digit receptive fields.
We observed strong and somatotopic responses in the MC during touch, even in the absence of active movement, highlighting a tight functional coupling.
After more than 5 decades of parallel development, #corticalstimulation for artificial #vision & artificial #touch is beginning to converge
