i love making bad/absent dad stede jokes bc it’s funny to me but also bc i think it’s so juicy when a character is like a good/well-meaning person but a bad parent. when character traits that are like minor flaws in other relationships become traumatizing for the children ur responsible for
and also i genuinely think being an absent father is the best thing stede could do for his kids in his situation
