Are you screening your ancient DNA study for chromosomal aneuploidies? Or looking for a new way to call genetic sex? Regardless of sequencing data type? Our Bayesian method (implemented in R as RChASM) has now been published in Bioinformatics: doi.org/10.1093/bioi...
We’re looking for a MSc student based in Zurich (UZH or ETH) to join a computational project at the intersection of human population genetics and linguistics. #UZH #ETH #Genomics #Linguistics #Switzerland @nccrlanguage.bsky.social @lifesciencezurich.bsky.social
My group at the MPI for Empirical Aesthetics now has a name: Cultural Evolution of the Arts! You can read a bit more about the idea behind the group at the group's web page: www.aesthetics.mpg.de/en/research/... And here's the obligatory door nameplate :)

Two new studies of Neanderthal DNA from @massilanilab.bsky.social, @hrougier.bsky.social, @mpi-eva-leipzig.bsky.social and others show our ancient cousins survived for millennia in small, geographically isolated groups. www.science.org/content/arti... @science.org 🧬🏺
Excited to share our new preprint on time-lagged F2-statistics, which informs about migration rates from ancient DNA data. Find a preprint here: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.03.12.710875v1 The work was driven by Giulio Isacchini and Oskar […] [Original post on ecoevo.social]

🏺Broad, enticing discussion of recent archaeogenetics papers that have found evidence for matrlineal organisation of cemeteries at various times/places in the past, including Iron Age Britain, in some cases implying matrilocal residence patterns. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...
Our institute @mpi-eva-leipzig.bsky.social starting a new Masters program with the University of Leipzig. If you are a bachelors student graduating soon, and would like to get involved with our research during you MSc, consider applying :) www.uni-leipzig.de/en/studying/...
How did catastrophic black death and myxomatosis outbreaks on an isolated island affect the genomes of humans & rabbits, respectively? And how did the microbes evolve in response to this? PhD position @cpgsthlm.bsky.social with Anders Götherström and me as supervisors! su.varbi.com/en/what:job/...

The programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the latest research into human evolution and development. The focus is on the genetic, paleoanthropological and cognitive aspects of human behaviour and the mind. Particular emphasis is placed on engaging with the complexities of research processes, and on developing skills in designing, implementing and evaluating studies. Students will gain professional expertise in handling and rigorously analysing and effectively presenting data, preparing them for doctoral research.
