A great listen - the surprising origins of this idea & its subsequent swallowing in conspiracy theory. Enjoyed learning about this in the Stalinist ghetto of East Oxford…
Led by @annabel-nicholls.bsky.social, a PhD researcher and former research assistant on the project, the team includes Paul Wignall, Haijun Song, @jackolivershaw.bsky.social, @beckerhopper.bsky.social (& Me!)

Fascinating new research paper asks: why did Biden receive so little political credit for his enormous investments in manufacturing? Turns out people give all the credit to governors (ironically, in this case, mostly red-state governors who were hostile to the policy!).
🧪 New Paper - New and revised estimates of the allometric coefficients for the bioenergetic & ATN model. Thousands of genera, no major change to past conclusions, massive opportunity for location specific simulations. *@blythpenelope.bsky.social lead author onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
Preprint alert 🚨 (yes, I still go online, shocker)
Scaling from Metawebs to Realised Webs: A Hierarchical Approach to Network Ecology
TL;DR: Networks are like… weirdly finicky and if you want your network analysis to not be a sad chaos, check this preprint: [https://doi.org/10.32942/X2JW8K] 🏠💻
Read this thread. @dralexdunhill.bsky.social at his finest, showcasing our @ukri.org funded work led by @barankarapunar.bsky.social with deep support from @tanyadoesscience.bsky.social. No global collapse of food webs across the Permian–Triassic Mass Extinction (PTME)
🚨New preprint out @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social (under review elsewhere!) 🧵

Are interacting species showing more similar responses to environmental predictors than expected by chance? Is this similarity protecting species pairs from interaction disruption under climate change? If you want to find out, join us for a fully funded Ph.D. with @epic-biodiversity.org

It’s finally out! Check out my first first author paper all about Allometric coefficients and how they can actually matter 😅
