The era of coal mining will soon come to an end in the United Kingdom after a Welsh council rejected plans for an open cast coal mine near Llandybie. There are only two active coal mines remaining in the country and none in the development pipeline now that the Glen Lash mine has been rejected.
Plans to dig for 85,000 tonnes of coal at Glan Lash mine near Llandybie have been refused.
