A thread worth going through if you're worried about RenPy, Tom and AI. Apple took the time to walk through it here explaining the nuance and giving good suggestions without defending the use or dismissing concerns. I may jump in later if I have the spoons, but it's been a long 36? hours for me.
TL:DR, Tom can read AI output but not a fucking room.
This speaks to me.

Question I got over night: what happened?? So the jist of it is a smattering of people were confused by a leak of a patreon post where Tom admitted to using AI in RenPy back in March. Tom caught wind of this and seemed to think the only problem people would have about that is he was vibe coding.
I’m seeing a lot of people who feel upset and betrayed about this. I’d like to give some perspective on this as a software engineer to help other game devs understand it better. Specifically, I want to answer what is he saying, what does it mean, and what does it mean for you specifically.

I use language models to develop Ren'Py, and have since Github copilot came out in beta in 2021. Before that I've used other tools (code completion, etc.) I don't vibe code Ren'Py, though - that's not something you do if you want a project you can maintain. 1/2
