Researchers from the UK and #Zimbabwe have launched a new project that will explore how historical approaches to land evaluation continue to shape agriculture today and how indigenous knowledge can help support future climate adaptation.

The project is led by University of Nottingham and is a collaboration between Rothamsted, University of Zimbabwe, and the Department of Research and Specialist Services (DR&SS) under the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development for Harare, Zimbabwe and Integral Kumusha.

The team from Rothamsted, CABI, John Innes Centre, James Hutton Institute, The Scottish Rural Agricultural College used the UK Crop Microbiome Cryobank, the world's first open crop and soil microbiome resource, to characterise more than 24,000 bacterial cultures and 315 soil microbiome libraries.
