Urbanist living in West Seattle Find me on our neighborshood’s pedestrian friendly Alki Point Healthy street πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ After years of advocacy, it’s permanent!! Fighting for more housing, transit, bike lanes. oh…and Pickleball will save Democracy

🎯 How can we get @cmeddielin.bsky.social β€˜s message out to a broader audience to support housing? A lot of the Nimbys are devoted to local TV traditional programming and Seattle times out of habit and aren’t seeing this perspective.
and many more. Everyone is so committed to do more and do better

Seattle #1 🚲 Thanks to all the people who continue to make Seattle a great biking city! @seattlebikeblog.com @streetsalliance.bsky.social @seattledot.bsky.social and a shoutout to @rvgreenways.bsky.social for delivering the LWB weekends mentioned www.nytimes.com/2026/06/09/t...
We have growing transit and bike ridership, too! We can keep doing big bold things that make our city more livable and affordable. We have a lot of work to do to support the people who are struggling, but we can make change. So let’s keep going.

So does the governor think we had the exact right amount of services in Washington eight or twelve years ago? Like, is the argument that things were better when we had fewer people on AppleCare, fewer kids in preschool, and fewer parks and trails?

Many of the things Seattleites love to visit on vacation are illegal to build in Seattle. The setbacks. The buildings with only one staircase. The small storefronts. The narrow alleys filled with cafes and shops. Against the law in Seattle. We can change those laws whenever we want.
Damn east coasters can keep their noses out. West coast runs the best elections. The point of elections is to get as many people to participate as are able and to accurately count their vote. Just because a 24 hour news cycle gets itchy.
I keep hearing this from east coasters. But here on the west coast what we find shocking is people waiting for hours to vote, chaos at polling places, people blocked from voting absentee, etc. The east coast should emulate us, not the other way around.

Saw a patient this week. He has a lot of anxiety on top of other issues. When I asked why, he told me he was unable to support his family enough working at a warehouse. Feels like he is a failure even though he's working 6 days a week. He is not a failure. WA is failing him.

Very basic stuff in terms of health outcomes: Reduce the exposure of people to vehicles -> expect fewer bad outcomes like crashes, injuries and deaths. Rinse & repeat.
