If global healthcare were a country, it would be one of the world’s top five greenhouse gas emitters.
Breaking: REF 2029 downgrades research culture weighting, reinstates five outputs per academic limit www.timeshighereducation.com/news/ref-202... via @jgro-the.bsky.social #REF2029

My reaction to the Government's White Paper on Post-16 Education and Skills. As it pertains to universities, it's a total botch that somehow manages to both raise fees and hack everybody off. The worst of all worlds, a bit like the rest of Labour's offer. Do have a read if you're interested. 👇

On my way to the Health Policy & Politics Network (HPPN) at the University of Manchester @manchester.ac.uk. Really interesting and varied programme - worth a look if you work in health policy! hppnuk.wordpress.com/2025/11/18/h... #hppnuk
Climate change is not an ‘environmental’ problem – it is the backdrop for everything governments do. It now shapes our lives in countless ways, seen and unseen and creates new pressures for public services. Read Chris's blog: https://bit.ly/41TBrdu

REF 2029 downgrades research culture, restores five output limit
So I've been reading the Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper. There's some good things in there. But when it comes to universities there's very little to cheer. The situation is very tough and will get worse. The last chance to preserve what we've got has passed. Let me explain why. (1/?)
