Ten years ago on June 12, 2016: the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
As a queer 16 yr old at the time, it was the first time I really felt the weight of my identity.
The 49 names of the lives lost that night will ride with me this week at Pocono. 🏳️🌈
Queer youth are at an elevated risk of human trafficking (www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mode...).
As noted in the below OWH article (ignore the picture of Pillen), the CWS increases the trafficking risk in Omaha. Be aware and look for the signs and get help as necessary if something feels wrong.
We love and appreciate @unionomaha.bsky.social's recognition and celebration of Pride. We continue to think some of the approach misses the mark when dealing with marginalized communities. We believe in the motto "nothing about us without us" and don't necessarily feel like this effort aligns.
