Happy 50th birthday to THE GONG SHOW, debuting on NBC OTD in 1976. The inestimable joy I got from it! Chuck Barris was an unwilling host yet brilliant in the role. Over its run it became increasingly anarchic & zany. Television at its frenzied best. Ran until 1978; reboots are rank pretenders.
