Our latest #NewAccession is a postcard of #suffragettes heading to Hyde Park, London, on 21st Jun 1906. It was the biggest demonstration held so far. The card was sent to Emma Johnson of Clay Cross by her friend Gertie Hewett who carried the 7 Gate banner. It was "a hugh success"!

In Derbyshire we are firmly in well dressing season and here’s a beautiful close-up from one in Bradwell in 1987. The detail and colours are amazing, even more so when you realise it’s made solely from natural objects such as petals and leaves.

Public art is often overlooked as part of urban development. ‘Following in the footsteps. A sculpture for Mickleover’, shows how the idea for the sculpture was developed and illustrates the process of how the pod and seeds were made. Find a copy in our #LocalStudies library.
