"We have a media ecosystem which has normalised hateful lies and brought our country to the edge of the abyss."
Yeah, this.

In his first column for Zeteo UK, acclaimed journalist and author Owen Jones looks at how the lie about immigrants pushed by British media and political elites is fueling the violence we see today.
"We come after. We know now that a man can read Goethe or Rilke in the evening, that he can play Bach and Schubert, and go to his day's work at Auschwitz in the morning. To say that he has read them without understanding or that his ear is gross, is cant."
—George Steiner, "Language and Silence"
Kudos to Jones and Hasan where it's due, and @zeteonews.co.uk gets a follow from me just for that column alone.
Rory Carroll of Trinity College, Dublin, has a very reasonable and concerned analysis of the ignorance of the rioters who can't tell Romanian from Romani, but it's interesting how *mainstream* media doesn't make his list of culprits. This is what we call "class solidarity".
"Politicians, social media and far-right agitators convinced people that migrant-targeting violence would solve all their problems"
Yeah, and what role did the UK media play in that? Who was it raked Gordon Brown over the coals for daring to dismiss the Voice of the Herrenvolk? Who started this?

Executing my cunning plan to keep my writing out of AI's sticky fingered grabby hands by committing my entire future corpus for the foreseeable to a gutter Scots narrative voice only agents and editors fluent in gutter Scots will touch with a barge pole.
Ah, well. Looks like I'm shopping the Arthurian project around myself, the US agent I was pointed at by my former US agent (now retired from the actual *agenting* malarkey) having found the Scots too much to handle at length. The muse never makes it easy for me, lol.
