I am excited to share our new paper @JExpMed led by our one and only #Alejandra_Aroca
I am excited to present our long-overdue lab website. Please visit us to learn who we are, our past work, and our current lines of research!

Thank you to Gerardo Barcia for his beautiful design and constant support in building it
With #Lidiane_Torres we show this also protects the vasculature in sickle cell disease by blunting aggressive behaviors
We then use a skin model to visualize the mechanism of this protection. The excitement came from finding that blocking the circadian clock repositions neutrophils right into the injury zone - thereby sparing the healthy tissue from the cytotoxicity of neutrophils
Kudos to @Aleejandra__ and the amazing #Sandra_Martin that performed tons of MI work including a full circadian experiment!
This would have not been possible with the generous support of @casanova-acebes.bsky.social and @mariangelesmoro.bsky.social
We uncover a circadian “checkpoint” in neutrophils that naturally reduces inflammation by targeting their intrinsic circadian clock!
Activating CXCR4 represses circadian-related activation of neutrophils, critically reducing inflammatory injury to the infarcted heart
Also our thanks to #Gerry_Nicholaes #Hector_Bueno and many others who were important collaborators
Support always from #CNIC #Yale_VBT @yaleschoolofmed.bsky.social
And very special to @caixaresearch.bsky.social for funding this work
