Highlights included a session dedicated to supporting the Ukrainian research ecosystem, a CoARA event on evolving values in research assessment, and our SAPEA workshop on Diversity in Science Advice.
SAPEA's member ALLEA held its 2026 General Assembly in Warsaw in late May, hosted by the Polish Academy of Sciences in what proved to be a stimulating and wide-ranging four-day gathering.

The centrepiece was a public conference on "Towards a Futureproof European Research Area", which opened with a keynote by renowned physicist Robert Dijkgraaf and featured a rich panel discussion with Barbara Prainsack, Emilija Stojmenova, Caroline Sutton and Krzysztof Pyrc.
