Catching up with @insidehousing.bsky.social's round up...this edition reflecting how domestic abuse survivors are being failed time and time again.
We need to get beyond apologies to systems change.
It's hard to convey just how monstrous the privatisation of children's care homes has become. Highly vulnerable children have been turned into cash machines, with devastating impacts on their wellbeing.

Councils are sending vulnerable kids to homes ran by money-grabbing cowboys and private-equity vultures, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
No one wants this. Not the families. Not the receiving areas. Not London boroughs. It’s a nightmare all round. But if London councils can’t fund homelessness accommodation locally, due to Local Housing Allowance freezes and budget pressures, they will procure elsewhere. This isn’t complicated.
A hugely rewarding moment to see how our research + advocacy is having impact in the House of Lords as @pollyneate.bsky.social proposes an amendment to the Social Housing Bill to ensure that domestic abuse survivors no longer face exclusion from social housing on the basis of housing-related debts.
Absolutely egregious example of women and their children being pulled into homelessness and a debt trap not of their making 👇

Legal equality duty for public services should be scrapped, says Badenoch.
Tories chasing Reform vote.
Apparently, equality is bad as some push for return of age, gender, race, disability discrimination.
Rights hard-won by our ancestors to be reversed. What next?

Exclusive: Practice that includes women fleeing abuse is ‘ripping at social fabric’ of towns in poorest parts of England
Vulnerable families including women fleeing abuse are being illegally “dumped” hundreds of miles away by London councils in a practice “ripping at the social fabric” of deprived towns, a Guardian investigation has found.
Against the backdrop of a deepening housing crisis, the number of homeless people forced out of London has doubled in the past two years. Continue reading...
