Super excited to see Atlas of Botany in print!!!
A pleasure to work with the wonderful team from DK and the @thebotanics.bsky.social
I wrote the Ancient Biomes section covering some of my favourite stories about plant evolution from the last 500 million years! @instmolplantsci.bsky.social

🤗 Delighted that a dwarf #mongoose has made the front cover of #ProcB
📑 Their #grooming & #sentinel exchanges inspired the modelling of biological #markets in our new paper:

🌿 We are hiring a new 2-yr postdoc in @econovoau.bsky.social at @aarhusuniint.bsky.social, on large-#herbivore ecology, trophic #rewilding & novel ecosystems- asking when alien & feral #ungulates enhance biodiversity & when they contribute to degradation🐪🐎🦓
Deadline: 28 June 2026. Details below 👇
Using repeat LiDAR acquired across a landscape-scale experiment in Malaysian Borneo, we found that liana cutting dramatically accelerates the accumulation of aboveground carbon stocks by speeding up tree growth and reducing mortality by 50%
New paper out today @currentbiology.bsky.social led by Toby Jackson and Lucy Beese shows the profound impact that liana cutting has on the structural recovery of logged tropical forests
📜 doi.org/10.1016/j.cu...
But we also caution that viewing tropical forest restoration solely through the lens of carbon could have serious unintended consequences for biodiversity, as this pre-print by @gcerullo.bsky.social suggests: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Excited to share our new paper in @methodsinecoevol.bsky.social on data and code archiving at @britishecologicalsociety.org journals. TL;DR: Data archiving rates are high, code archiving rates are low, documentation needs to be improved! besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.....
Data- and code-archiving are important components of open science, as both make research more transparent, reproducible, accountable and credible, allowing future researchers to build on previous ...

Wide variation in hydraulic safety margins across and within southern Amazon forests
Southern Amazonian forest species are not equally safe to hydraulic failure, highlighting the importance of site- and species-dependent factors

Why is the old debate about whether smoking causes cancer relevant to settling the controversy surrounding over-crediting in forest carbon offsets?
