Looks like BSky's group chat update may have reset the default to 'No-one'.
Old C920 webcam I was using as a pet cam finally kicked the bucket, luckily right at the end of stream. Been in service for many years.
Not gonna bother taking it apart but looks like it generated a short and shut down the USB bus.
I do have a replacement, so pet cam will continue uninterrupted!
