The SPiNS lab is ready to share what we’ve been working on! Sonya, Steve, and Kate are presenting their projects at CEMS 2026. If you’re interested in the structure, dimensionality, and flexibility of semantic memory check out a sneak peak of their posters below 👇

there are casual effects all over the place
kate, our lab tech, is doing some really cool work constructing concept networks from text embeddings and aligning them with human concepts. seeing the networks come to life is 🔥

Super excited to share this preprint! How do we disentangle underlying structure from the particular features of a learning episode to benefit future learning? We find that memory reactivation during sleep promotes this structure abstraction process. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
2026 big update to the psycholinguistic database page! If you know of corpora, lexical databases, or other resources that I've missed, please LMK. Trying to keep this thing relatively current and could use the help www.reilly-coglab.com/data

this work was done with @annaschapiro.bsky.social et al., including @lizsiefert.bsky.social + @cgonciulea.bsky.social !
We've posted a new fMRI study of semantic relations (has-part, is-a, made-of, etc.), a key aspect of language. We find that relations are represented in the same brain regions as are other semantic concepts, though voxels tend to be selective for only one relation or another. doi.org/10.64898/202...

I'm proud to say we are releasing LAION-fMRI, a densely sampled 7T fMRI dataset of natural images, with very broad stimulus sampling for testing countless hypotheses and for deeply exploring brain representations. The dataset is now available at laion-fmri.hebartlab.com What does LAION-fMRI offer? 🧵

Curious what a representation of "everything" you know might look like? Wonder how you might fill it in? Check out our demo and paper (led by @paxt0n4.bsky.social and now out in @natcomms.nature.com ), or read on to learn more! Demo: context-lab.com/mapper/ Paper: www.doi.org/10.1038/s414...

Interested in a Postdoc on how brains/ANNs learn and represent visual/semantic concepts in Osaka, Japan? Check out the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships (up to 2 yr). I'd be happy to host postdocs to come work in my lab at CiNet, Osaka! Info🧵👇 Please repost! #neuroskyence #psychscisky #mlsky 🧠💻 /1
