Nintendo provided an overview of the Nintendo Direct announcements.
As an RPG fan, especially of Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade, I couldn't have asked for much more than we got.
Tetsuya Takashi is the Executive Director of Xenoblade Genesis.
That shouldn't be a surprise.
Character designs are being handled by two artists:
Mai Yoneyama and PALOW
Yasunori Mitsuda is the lead composer of Xenoblade Genesis.
Mariam Abounnasr (Xenoblade 2/3) & Manami Kiyota (Xenoblade 1/2/3) are also on the team with ANUNA doing choral vocals.
The soundtrack is going to be as ridiculously good as all the other games.
Nintendo forgot to include Metaphor ReFantazio in this too.
That's a pretty recent big RPG confirmed for Switch 2.
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games of all time.
It's one of the few games from 20+ years ago that I can vividly remember going to the store to pick up like it was yesterday.
I'm excited and nervous for this remake at the same time.
That Nintendo Direct was crazy for RPG fans.
Thankfully, I am one.
This isn't a Nintendo Direct Mini or a Partner Showcase.
This is the first general Nintendo Direct since September 2025.
This means 1st Party and 3rd Party announcements.
It's a big one!

Square Enix announced they are bringing Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster natively to Switch 2.
It's releasing on July 23rd.
The Nintendo Direct will be approximately 50 minutes long.
The focus will be on software coming the second half of 2026.
The treehouse live that comes after will be 95 minutes.
