Being fair to Dan², 2nd week of March is when voter roll maintenance is conducted and the AKIP was disbanded.
Those people become undeclareds if they didn't proactive change party.
But then deadline for PFD (and auto voter reg stuff) is 2wks later.

The Alaska Republican Party's complaint (www.documentcloud.org/documents/28...) shows that he was registered as undeclared in March and implies that when they looked him up after his candidacy was announced, the online tool showed him also as undeclared.
