A mesmerizing work of cultural history centered on Varían Fry, a journalist who helped 2000 Jewish and Anti-Nazi people flee from Vichy France, and the lives of many people he helped: Hannah Arendt, Andre Breton, Franz Werfel, Alma Mahler, etc. All narrated like a thriller. Highly recommended
