I gave up on the WaPo years ago. I'd hate to also give up on the NYTimes. But this guy is a decorated army surgeon who literally saved the life of a (now) US Senator and worked as a volunteer trauma surgeon in Bosnia, Haiti, and Gaza. Contrast that with their paper-thin guilt-by-association lede.
