What would cuts to syringe service programs in the US do to #overdose?👇 @jama.com

As we attempt to turn the corner on overdose deaths, now is a time to invest in, not restrict, access to harm reduction overall. SSPs are an evidence-based intervention that reduce overdoses, infections, and lead people to treatment and recovery. Without them, people die prematurely.
A good rule in life: if you see a pop up bbq on the side of the road, you stop.
The government is restricting funds for #harmreduction. This makes it difficult and/or impossible for organizations to do the work of keeping people alive, including syringe service programs. Strapped for funding, restricting and/or cutting more funding will make things worse. How do we know?
