We dream for a day when none of us has to wear a paper bag over our head to protect our identity, when none of our members fear marching because they could be recognized as a sex worker.

He used his work to highlight the people most forgotten by society, like homeless people & waste pickers. He was working on a book about “deviant economies” and asked me to contribute a chapter. He weaved ethnography into political science in a rare way that I aspire to. He will be deeply missed.

I am so devastated to learn of the passing of @raulpachecovega.bsky.social, who I just had coffee with a week ago. We met at @repalconference.bsky.social and he was one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met in academia. He made me feel like my work mattered.
