The student loan system is more broken than it has ever been.
At some point, the court *unblocked* it. So SAVE existed. We filed a lawsuit saying "SAVE exists—therefore the federal government must legally administer every penny of student debt cancellation right now." 99 minutes later, another court blocked SAVE, dealing another blow.

It gets complicated, but essentially the SAVE plan is the cheapest student debt plan ever to exist. It was created by Biden and many are still on it. Republican elected officials worked with MOHELA (a student loan servicing company) to halt SAVE. They got a court to block it.
We filed a lawsuit to say the federal government should administer the student debt cancellation that was legally on the books. The DOJ just replied with a motion to dismiss our lawsuit — and their argument is super revealing. They admit the SAVE plan was *better* for debtors.
