This is welcome, but it's worth noting that for over 45 years Mike DeWine has supported the death penalty out of naked careerism. He's only coming out against it now because he'll be out of office in six months. Which, of course, means that he has almost zero political capital to make it happen.
Gov. Mike DeWine supported Ohio's death penalty as a legislator and attorney general. Now he wants the practice to end.
