A community archaeology group I'm involved in are looking at insurance for our first test pit weekend later this year. We've had a few quotes (Markel & Everywhen), but just wondering if any community folks on here could recommend any others? Ta! #community #archaeology
This beautifully converted barn in the Peak District is our home for the next few days. A quick check on the HER tells me we're on the (probable) Roman Road from Buxton to Melandra. And the owner told me that Roman soldiers used to march on the track that runs on the ridge above us. 😁 Happy days!
Sheffield Uni are spending a couple of days in Chaddesden Park, Derby next week, conducting magnetometry (Monday 15th) and GPR (Tuesday 16th) surveys of the park. There are a few spaces on Tuesday if people want to get involved. But unlimited spaces on either day for archae-chats! #archaeology

Dr Carly Butler from Derby Uni, in partnership with @nationaltrust.org.uk and Historic England, is leading this 'Youth Voices for Heritage' research. There's an online survey that takes 15-20 minutes. The deadline is 11th June.

(It's for use in a heritage project, but I figured the request was niche enough already!)
Photographed a 'People of the Peak' volunteer session this weekend. Spent the afternoon wandering through these magical woods around Grindleford. They were learning all about monitoring scheduled monuments, so had a look at a lovely medieval settlement too!
