In my HC, shards don't look alike but all possess the same spark.
Meg & Aymeric are soulmates; their shards would feel familiar to each other, even if they don't recognize their own. For example: Meg didn't know Adbert was her shard till they merged but Aymeric would have felt a familiar aura.
