I just think if the government was to become this unpopular this quickly, they might as well have done it by increasing taxes on median+ earners.

Think it’s also as basic as: the government has got a *really* horrible intray. Is it helpful, or unhelpful, to navigate that with a PM who is having to take time explaining why his Mandelson pick was good, or is that a draining distraction?

I do worry that the social media era has made us ungovernable but even if it were the case here (and I absolutely believe that there is a madness to some of the opposition to Starmer that literally nobody could assuage), the solution is not embracing a pathology in the other direction.

Just look at the last 2 years and ask yourself if that's how a government that was elected with a 170+ majority should have been performing. Obviously not. Reform and the Greens are so beatable, but not by Starmer. Get rid. There's nothing else to say. We will lose with him in charge.
