This is an extremely worrying trend (people taking out loans to pay their monthly rent), and is the latest sign that just affording the very basics of life is becoming a struggle for loads of people. Why? Neoliberalism, insane income inequality, insatiable greed from the world's rentiers, etc.

Terrible news, but I don't get why this is *news*. Should I have more sympathy for this person than I have for all the ICE victims who aren't highly skilled tech workers (and probably have less financial and social capital to help them)? But the solidarity from Meta co-workers is nice to see.
