If I was just a little more conspiracy-minded, I'd suggest that big petrochem has been behind pushing crypto and then AI because the power usage requirements can keep them relevant in a world increasingly able to shift to renewables.

The (presumably) bot behaviour here is very bizarre to me. Every few hours I'm getting a new blurry avatar with an enigmatic name who likes precisely three random posts from my last week of shit posting and then that's it. It's tediously clear in its pattern.
I'm more struck by how delusional a governing class needs to be to think millions of 16 and 17 year olds won't be smart enough to bypass digital blocks and curfews.
