I would vote for Platner over Collins if I lived in Maine, but if you want an example of how nominating people like this is toxic, people defending him with “thinking DV is bad is too woke” is a great example.
The Platner hate is liberal culture war stuff. They hate him primarily because he is not culturally liberal, which is distinct from ideology
