The CoJ have no standard equipment, but it's mentioned that at least some of them wear body armor as part of their costumes; updated costumes are probably provided.
In StS, Seff is issued basic weapons and armor as a squire, and her meager pay is garnished until she pays it off.

Is the starting equipment included as part of their sign-on process or are they expected to buy it before hand or pay it off over time (through work)?
