Possibly the most useless email Iβve ever received?
TBH the thing that is most sad about the loss of ~2015-2021 era science twitter is the loss of a public square where grad students can see, and participate in, the diversity of expert opinions in the field. It really shaped how I see science.

Kelly said βnever againβ at the end of this walk. I attribute that to the distance rather than the company - either way, I think she deserves your sponsorship money.
I'm walking 32km next week (along with @kellydonegan.bsky.social) to raise funds for Mentally Fit York! Just to make it more difficult, my 2 year old will occasionally be providing additional resistance by acting as a weighted backpack. Please sponsor me! universityofyork.enthuse.com/pf/alexandra...

So exciting to see @lucysta02475610.bsky.social present the results of her mammoth, multi-year project to develop a questionnaire measuring the Negative Appraisal of Gastric Sensations (NAGS): it differentiates between people with eating disorders and gastric disorders! @yorkpsychology.bsky.social
New year, new Open Research in Practice case study! π
Gemma Sarigu describes how they embedded open practices during a student internship with @alexandrapike.bsky.social @yorkpsychology.bsky.social, assessing the relationship between catastrophising and integration of stressful life experiences π§
Excellent thread for grad students to dive into - so much expertise (and diversity of opinion!) in the comments π

New paper alert! π¨
We found that the brain's compass is remarkably stable at two scales
1οΈβ£ the system maintains its internal organization for weeks
2οΈβ£ It "remembers" its orientation for weeks, even after a single visit
This may be key to how the brain aligns its other maps.
