the crackdown on minors using the internet is, i think, pretty clearly an extension of one of the fundamental ressentiments of modern politics, namely “we cannot allow children to leave their homes, to become their own people, to reject the place of their births.”
Whenever I see all of these Draconian efforts to restrict kids from the internet, I think about how I grew up a closeted trans & undiagnosed autistic kid, and how much the internet was a lifeline that helped me appreciate there were people out there like me — that I wasn't alone.
