After a great week on Lesvos, I was welcomed home to a new bird for Sussex for me , 2 Spotted Sandpipers on the River Ouse near Southease (East Sussex) great to see them in their finery too. The bridge camera came in handy to get these shots #ukbirds 🪶 #nikon

First-summer female Subalpine Warbler trapped at the Obs and just released in the Obs Quarry - if we had to put money on it it's a Western but tail mostly v worn juvenile so no help!
A nice mornings stroll around Pulborough Brooks, alive with bird song! Garganey were showing well on the North Brooks and Nightingales and Whitethroats have arrived in number #uķbirds 🪶
After a few days guiding for @wildstarts.bsky.social in Dorset this lovely Wheatear greeted me back home in West Sussex. Thanks to all @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social great to see some familiar faces...
I saw my first Spotted Sandpiper on the shores of Buttermere in the Lake District 9 years ago - this one on the Ouse near Southease was rather more co-operative & the weather was better! I spent a very pleasant hour watching this smart American vagrant wader foraging in warm sunshine. #BirdingUK/IRE
