I am offering a fully-funded position for 3 years (evaluation after 1y). We're located in lovely Utrecht, and embedded in a wonderful research environment. More information and apply button here: www.uu.nl/en/organisat...
Please apply or share if the position suits you / you know someone suitable!
Very brief scientific background: I am particularly interested in the mechanisms behind early transcription termination. Approaches we often use include CRISPR screens and nascent RNA sequencing after rapid depletions. Bringing your own project ideas and expertise is also encouraged!

The Vlaming lab continues to grow!
It's an exciting time in the Vlaming lab: we've just had our 2nd PhD student join, and the 3rd is joining in February. Now, we're looking to recruit a postdoc!
Getting this grant took several attempts and lots of support from my past advisors, current colleagues and many other science friends. Thank you to everyone who helped me prepare by proofreading, doing practice talks or sharing advice or encouragement!!
Thrilled to be one of the ERC StG awardees this year! It will allow my team to further delve into the puzzle of what regulates the fate of RNA Polymerase II during early elongation: will it terminate early, or elongate happily ever after?
As part of this grant, I have a vacancy out for a PhD student to join our super nice team. It closes on September 9 (Tuesday).
If you are or know a good prospective PhD student, excited about studying transcription, please (suggest them to) apply here: www.uu.nl/en/organisat...

OK Kids, our ERK story is finally heading out into the world. After 9 years of having funding, losing funding, losing staff, getting funding, gaining staff...it's ready!
We discovered a novel stage of what is an otherwise extensively studied process: how cells respond to extracellular signals. 1/n

๐งต CTCF is essential for embryonic development, but why has remained unclear. By combining gastruloids with a temporal degron system, we uncovered a surprising dual function โ and it changes how we think about CTCF's role in development. 1/8 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Very proud of our paper on "scrambling-by-hopping" LADs, which was just published: www.nature.com/articles/s41.... Congrats to Lise Dauban and the rest of the team โ this was a real tour-de-force!
Do you want to understand how RNA #splicing decisions are made? Weโve got a PhD position open for you (see ๐๐)!!
Please share #RNAsky and RT!
