Developer of Small Saga and Aviary Attorney. What's next in the pipeline? Let's find out. Sketchy_Jeremy on twitter. Any pronouns.

Between his description and my glimpses of the game on the rare occasion that he brought his Gameboy Colour to school, I formed an image of the game in my mind. I knew drawing all these monsters would be impossible, so I assumed the game frankensteined body parts together, proc gen style.
So now I've played Dragon Warrior Monsters some 25 or so years later, and it's interesting to see the gap between the game I conjured and the game that exists. It does use proc gen (for levels), and does have intricate breeding mechanics... but no frankensteining, only 215 beautifully drawn sprites.
The kind of insane bug that can only happen with Unity. Maths broke because the operating system is too European.
I would like to clarify that Leo is a human. I am not thanking the similarly named mouse who features in the game. Mouse Leo is a tool of the state and deserves no thanks, only contempt.
Juicy and dense game. I recommend playing it with the artbook open, reading the accompanying notes on a scene-by-scene basis. I like the Trotskyist badger and his fanfare moment.
My ads have become too targeted so now I only see things like direct pleas from Yoko Shimomura to hear the music of Live A Live live.
When Pokemon Red/Blue was still new, there was a guy in the class above me who was too cool for Pokemon. Instead, he was into Dragon Warrior Monsters. He told me that it didn't have a paltry 150 monsters; it had thousands, maybe millions, each monster a combination of its parents.
Even with access to instantaneous information, I hope kids still conjure games from exaggerated playground descriptions, blurry screenshots, and unreliable memories. It's good for the game development soul.

There's a new Small Saga update! The big change is switching to a whole new engine, but there are a couple of fancy new features. A big thank you to Kevin and Leo for putting in the hard work. store.steampowered.com/news/app/132...
