Had a video "go viral" on the weekend and it makes me realize that going viral has nothing to do with anything. It's just the machine grabbing something and firing it all over the place because there's an insatiable "need" for "content." No boost for The Sprawl or any other benefit I can see.
At city hall this morn. Green Line. On the floor is an amendment from Cllr. McLean to have admin "identify and evaluate potential alternative alignment options" for downtown. As I've said previously: the Green Line is best understood as a (very costly!) multiyear performance art project. #yyccc
I don't know where I'd be without the music of Bruce Cockburn.
It's official: The CTrain free fare zone has survived—for now. City council votes 9 - 6 to defer a decision on it until early 2027 when Calgary Transit comes back with a larger fare strategy. (Voting no to this was to keep the zone without the later review.) #yyccc
The 15yo has taken to putting on... Limp Bizkit, of all things. Someone has failed here. It may be me. It may be the larger society. In more encouraging news, the 17yo is currently obsessed with Rumours...
Big day over here. I got a new mechanical pencil.
This CTrain free fare zone debate in a single image. #yyccc

It is perhaps for the best that the Rainbow Bridge for pedestrians and presumably their pets was retired in the 80s but I also had no idea it is what is now the U of C arch! Thanks @klaszus.bsky.social for another great @sprawlcalgary.bsky.social CTrain story!

Something a little different for today's Sprawl dispatch. I've been thinking about a baseball newsletter I used to send out with TinyLetter. It had a small audience—and that was one of the best things about it.

Dalgleish thinking that retirement is looking pretty good right now.
