AI advocates keep saying "AI is just a tool"
Yeah? So what? There are thousands of tools that absolutely suck. We don't use them because they're expensive, dangerous, and bad at doing the task they were created for. Just look at the cesspool that is kitchen gadgets.

My crankiest old man take is that referring to all art/entertainment/journalism/criticism/comedy/advertising as “content” helped pave the way for broad-ish acceptance of AI slop.
