The new anime draws directly from the manga rather than this continuity, but it was due a rewatch and with a new show coming up, it is a good excuse as any for this early to mid 2000s classic. It's Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex:
Normal person complains about military tactics in the book making isekai; saying goodbye to the maid; the usual jokes about bonesmashing; and more, in the 62nd edition of "I'm watching way too much stuff".
Area man dislikes when anime adds too many characters that have little screen time; also dislikes when technically there's only two of them. It's 2022's The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious.
If we're talking about things that wouldn't get made today Danger 5 is all on YouTube and I'm watching it. Not because of changing social mores or anything but nobody today would be that committed to building and blowing up miniatures.
