To me the most refreshing leaders are the ones leading with radical transparency and honesty. If more progressive politicians lean into that, we can disarm the Pratt/Park right wing fearmongering machine.
we are going to win
When politicians sound overly defensive or evasive, it pisses everyone off (left and right) and that’s why I think we see historic levels of distrust in government institutions across the board. “The system feels broke but they’re telling me it’s fine wtf?”
It’s time for the left to take the “transparency and accountability” frame back from the right. Afterall, we are the side that believes in a robust government social safety net! @kennethmejia lives in this lane and he’s the most popular politician across the spectrum here.
Unlike them, we WANT government investments to work, which is why 250 empty apartments should be unacceptable to us. But when leaders make excuses, it lets the other side say the whole strategy is a failure when it’s not.
I hate reading stories like this because it provides talking points to people like Traci Park and Spencer Pratt to attack homelessness spending and “housing first” writ large. This is why progressives MUST care about transparency and accountability in government programs. laist.com/news/housing...
LA, our megaevent age is upon us. And it all starts with this 39-day test run. This is not a guide for attending World Cup matches. This is not even a guide for watching World Cup matches. (Remember the Torched promise: no sports!) This is a guide for finding and sharing the best of our city
