Mondayβs star find was a slate writing tablet, which possibly dates to the late 1800s when the site was Lincoln Diocesan Training College βοΈ
The field school team also includes Giles Emery of Norvic Archaeology, Chloe Birdsall of Allen Archaeology, and Lincolnshire Archaeology Group volunteers πͺ

Dr. Alan Malpass, Senior Lecturer of Military History at @lincolnbishopuni.bsky.social, spoke to the Grantham Local History Society yesterday evening. His talk at Grantham Museum explored WWII Prisoner of Wars in Lincolnshire β especially at the Allington camp near Grantham ποΈβΊοΈ
Monday marked the start of our month-long 2026 Archaeology Field School. The team of Dr Martin Huggon, Dr Ian Hardwick, and Archeology & History BA students have opened two trenches on the Lincoln Bishop campus aiming to explore the Roman, medieval, and Victorian heritage of the area πͺπΎπͺ
During May, @lincolnbishopuni.bsky.social staff will take part in the Lincolnshire Local History Festival.
Talks across the county will cover topics including warfare, peace, suffrage, and literature.
